Stampin’ Up! Uplifting Rustic Retreat Card

I’m back today with another Rustic Retreat card, this time featuring the wonderfully uplifting A.A. Milne phrase on the front. It is one that we all need to be reminded of, believe, and share. Stick it on a mirror, and look at it every day. Especially now as the pandemic continues its march through our lives.

The card was CASE’d (copied and selectively edited) from one created by Mary Deatherage. The layout is the same, but the colour scheme is completely different. Her card was very masculine, with blues and greys. I opted to go with a more feminine colour scheme, so that I could send this to a friend in need of a lift.

I try to plan out my weekly projects in advance, so this card was made before the Last Chance List came out. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that MOST of the elements on it will be retiring on May 3rd. I was surprised that embossing folder is on the list. It’s popular, and we’ve only had it for a year. The Stitched Nested Labels dies surprised and disappointed me at the same time because they were part my 2019 OnStage Presentation in Quebec City.

Retiring items on this card:

  • Rustic Retreat stamp set (150285)
  • Rococo Rose Cardstock (150882)
  • Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder (153200)
  • Stitched Nested Labels Dies (149638)
  • Rococo Rose 1/2″ Scalloped Linen Ribbon (149704)

One quick note about this card… The layer in the bottom right corner is a good example of to add elements and build up a focal point on your project.

At this point I am encouraging you to look through the Last Chance List, to ensure that you have everything that you love before it retires. There are some items on there that I am adding to my collection, because I use them in my now-neglected scrapbooking. Which I *need* to get back to because I’m still 8 years behind! If we go back into lockdown again, you know what I’ll be doing.
