Stampin’ Up! Die Cut Spotlight Technique Cards

Happy Wednesday! Today’s post is the same, yet different. I have two Die Cut Spotlight Technique Cards in today’s post. One you may be familiar with, because I posted it a couple of months ago, along with a new one. Why post an older card? Because the card, and the Die Cut Spotlight Technique, are in this week’s SplitCoastStampers (SCS) newsletter, and featured on their main page. SO exciting! Here’s the card that you’ll find on their site.

Along with the card above, I have made two others, which are in the SplitCoastStampers gallery for this technique. The first is the card below, and I’ll post the second one tomorrow. You should absolutely check out the gallery because there are some very talented artists out there. They are posting some wonderful projects, which are definitely helping to drive my own creativity. The video tutorial for this particular card is below.

Today’s blog project is this card. Creating the card is very similar to the process for the one above. The only difference is that instead of stamping the main image, I used one of the pieces of paper from the Pattern Party 12″x12″ Designer Series Paper pack. It’s a Host-only pack, that you can choose with your Stampin’ Rewards. Each piece has colour on one side, and is black/white on the reverse. Perfect for colouring with Stampin’ Blends.

To make this card, cut your Designer Series Paper and glue it to your card base. You will need to use more adhesive that you’re used to – especially if you’re the “I’m going to put a bit in the corners and centre” of the card. The paper needs to stick! You don’t want the circles to fall apart after they’re cut.

Three colours of Stampin’ Blends were used to colour the die cut circle on this card, with coordinating cardstock for the sentiment. The Spotlight comes out when the image is glued through the circle, onto the inside of the card. I love the look of the Black Glittered Organdy ribbon as well. I didn’t add any other bling to the card, but adding a bit of Wink of Stella to the flowers would be lovely.

Sweet Strawberry has a ‘thank you’ that is the perfect size for this card, and has a font that works with the images. Both are less formal, and a script font is appropriate for this. A super serif-heavy, formal font would look a tad odd.
