Stampin’ Up! Catching Butterflies Card Idea

Happy Wednesday! Today’s project is a colourful card, created with the Catching Butterflies stamp set and the Simply Marbleous Designer Series Paper. These are both in the Sale-a-bration brochure (ends on February 28th!), and are fun to pair together. Let’s have a look!

This particular card was created with one of the sketches in our January Recipe Cards. Have you downloaded your free Recipe Cards yet? Scroll down for the link, and details about the entire program. The starting colour for this card is Balmy Blue, because I like that piece of the Simply Marbleous Designer Series Paper. I paired it with pieces of Balmy Blue and So Saffron cardstock. I look the look of the Subtles colours together, so the butterflies have also been coloured with Subtle colours.

Stamping the butterflies on this card quick because the large stamp has six butterflies. You can stamp this layer with only three stamps, which is great if you want to make a bunch of cards. There is a single stamp as well, if you just want to add one butterfly to your project.

Once stamped, pick up your Stampin’ Blends to quickly colour in the butterflies. You don’t need to blend the colours, because they are too small. Just colour the entire butterfly with your light Blend, and then the centres with the dark Blend. Add a bit of Wink of Stella to give them a bit of sparkle. Funnily enough, I had this step in my head and completely forgot add it to this card before I took a few photos. I’ll be doing that as soon as I post this, so that I don’t forget.

The sentiment on the card is also in the Catching Butterflies stamp set. I die cut the words with one of the dies in the Tasteful Labels set, and just popped it up because I didn’t want the phrase to distract from the colours. Adding a bit of the White Glittered Organdy ribbon, and three rhinestones, adds sparkle.

The supply list for today’s project can be found at the bottom of the post. Don’t forget that Sale-a-bration ends on February 28th, and the Catching Butterflies and Simply Marbleous Designer Series Paper will only be available until then. Thanks for stopping by today for details on my Catching Butterflies card. I’m taking a few baby cards to work today, so that a coworker can choose some for upcoming showers. Even though this isn’t specifically a shower card, it has such a happy message to it, and I’m including it in her choices. On that note… I have a napping golden retriever beside me who needs to be kicked out of the house for her walk. Enjoy your day, set your alarm for tomorrow’s Facebook Live at 7:30, email if you have questions, and I’ll be back on Friday. Until then, Happy Stamping!
