Spiral Dye Resist Technique – with Tutorial

Happy Friday! Today’s project is a Spiral Dye Resist card that I created a couple of months ago for a tutorial group that I’m a part of. It was sent out in a previous month’s newsletter, but wanted to share it with you so that you can see a sample of the projects that I include in my customer newsletters. Not on my mailing list? Clearly this is a card that I made in the summer, because it has a fun Flirty Flamingo vibe to it. We all know how much I love that colour… or anything that vaguely resembles a Big Pink Bird. It is #flamingofriday after all.

The first step is to emboss the Spiral Dye stamp onto Basic White cardstock. My big regret on this card is that I used old white powder, which has more of an ivory feel to it. I’ve since relegated it to the back of the “I really shouldn’t use this” drawer. We all have things like this in our stamp room. The key is not to have too many of them!

The coordinating ribbon has pretty gold thread running through it. Whenever you have one metallic element on a project, it’s good to offset it with another. The Gilded Gems in the Annual Catalogue come in three different sizes, and coordinate well with the ribbon. I also embossed the ‘thanks’ from Biggest Wish in gold because it too looks great against the ribbon.

You can download the PDF tutorial, which includes photos & the supply list, at the link below.

The full supply list for this card can be found at the bottom of the post. If you need any stamping supplies, I would be very happy to be your demonstrator. Just click on the link below to go directly to my Online Store. Shop 24/7 in the comfort of your home, and ship it directly to you!

Thanks for stopping by today. We have looked at the resist technique before, because it works extremely well with the Spiral Dye background stamp. The large ‘thank you’ means that you don’t need to anything else to it because there’s a lot going on! I’ll be back on Monday with another project that is more seasonal. If you have questions before then, please add a comment or drop me a quick e-mail and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. Happy Stamping!
