Perfectly Plaid CASE the Catty Cards

Good morning stampers! Today I’m sharing two Perfectly Plaid CASE the catty cards! They’re definitely holiday cards, but the patterns on the trees can be used for different occasions. Today’s cards have been pulled from the Holiday Catalogue.

I really like this first card, because of the watercolour look to it. The original is on page 12 of the Holiday Catalogue. Mine looks a bit different, which is more than fine because I think that every card created like this one will be different. It’s just the way of the medium.

To achieve this effect, add the watercolour wash to your background piece of watercolour first. Let it dry before stamping the trees directly onto it. Stamp three additional trees on scrap watercolour paper, to punch and glue to the card.

When stamping the trees, use our regular Classic Ink (Shaded Spruce), and then quickly go over them with an Aquapainter. Don’t use too much water, because you don’t want a watery mess, but use enough to blur the ink.

You can find the photograph of the second card on page 13 of the Holiday Catalogue. It’s fast and easy to make because the only stamping to do is the sentiment itself. Use the tree punch for quick punching of the trees. Super easy!

Mint Macaron, a non-traditional holiday colour, forms the base of the card. An additional layer was cut with a stitched Rectangle die.

One of my absolute favourite items in this book is the Wrapped in Plaid Designer Series Paper. I bought far more than I need for my fall events, because I want to use it on my own tags/cards. There are gold stripes in the plaid sides of the paper, and it punches beautifully.

One last note… at the point that I made this, I didn’t own the Twinkle Builder Punch. That’s key because the stars in the sample were punched from gold foil paper, using the Twinkle Builder. (My old stars border punch worked well for this.)
