Stampin’ Up! Friendly Flamingo Friday Card

Hi all! Today’s Friendly Flamingo Friday card is small, pink, and cute. I just love the Flirty Flamingo cardstock, because it really is the best colour for flamingos.

A pink and white card with a pink flamingo on it. The flamingo was die cut with dies from Stampin up.

The colour scheme for this card is simple: Flirty Flamingo, Basic Black, and Basic White. Beginning with the 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ card base, the small flower in the Friendly Flamingo stamp set has been stamped repeatedly across the card front. You could also stamp just around the edges, because most of it will be hidden by the black cardstock.

Pinky was die cut from Flirty Flamingo cardstock with a bit of black glued behind his eye. I’m very particular about my flamingos, and it bothers me to see a blank void with nothing behind it. His beak was coloured with the Basic Black Dark Stampin’ Blend. I sponged Flirty Flamingo ink around the top wing and layered both wing pieces on with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

*Tip* To create the bow around his neck, you need a 6″ piece of Black/White Baker’s Twine from the Playful Pets Trim Combo Pack. Pull the black strands from the piece, separate them, and tie around the neck of the bird in a bow.

The Basic White piece of cardstock was embossed with three sizes of the Stitched With Whimsy Dies. These are easily missed in the January-June catalogue because they’re at the bottom of page 72. This is the last page of products before the recap of bundles in the book. I layered all three together, and ran them all through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine at the same time so that I didn’t have to try and match all of the sizing up. That and it is just faster to do it this way. I’m am thrilled that these are carrying over to the new Annual Catalogue.

Finally, the sentiment was stamped with Versamark ink and embossed with white embossing powder on a thin strip of Basic Black cardstock.

Retiring items on this card:

  • Flamingo Dies (154313)
  • Friendly Flamingo Stamp Set (154386)
  • Friendly Flamingo Bundle (156212) – includes both of the above, at a 10% savings

At this point I am encouraging you to look through the Last Chance List, to ensure that you have everything that you love before it retires. You KNOW that I’m sad about the retirement of the Friendly Flamingo Bundle. That doesn’t mean you won’t see them again though. I likely won’t continue with Flamingo Friday blog posts, but they will still pop up on my Facebook page. After all, flamingos are still everywhere. I even saw some on my dog walk this morning.

Thanks for stopping by today! Today’s Friendly Flamingo Friday card is cute, and heading to my flamingo card box. I’ll hold onto it until the store reopens after Lockdown #3, and give it to one of my coworkers. Next week I am featuring 3 stamp sets that work tremendously well together. They’re all on the Last Chance list, and want to showcase them before they retire. As always, please e-mail if you have any questions. Happy Stamping!
