Festive Foliage Card Overlaid with Vellum

Happy Friday! Today’s card showcases the Festive Foliage background stamp, overlaid with vellum. The extra layer provides a bit of softening to the colours on the card. This is handy if you feel your colours are too dark, or a bit harsh.

The colour scheme for this project screams traditional holiday, as there are two muted greens, combined with a not-so-bright red. I generally prefer Cherry Cobbler to the brighter reds on my projects, and it pairs very well with Mossy Meadow and/or Old Olive. Both greens are in the Colour Chip because they complement the cherry. You can find this Colour Chip, along with many others, on the Colour Chip resource page.

Stampin’ Blends in the above colours were used to colour in the Festive Foliage image, that was stamped using black Memento ink. You can change these up to whatever suits your project, just make sure that the cardstock matches your colouring.

The Cherry Cobbler layer was glued directly to the cardbase, and the stamped image was popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For the overlaid vellum, I added glue dots to secure it, underneath the ribbon. You should always try to hide the adhesive when attaching vellum, because it’s generally easy to see behind the layer. Be sure to wrap your ribbon around this entire layer BEFORE gluing it down. You can add the ribbon later, but it’s a pain to do so.

Remember the embossed card from earlier this week? I created the die cut phrase exactly the same way. The stamp from Inspired Thoughts is exactly the right size to die cut with the banner die from Tasteful Labels. I glued it down, curling the bottom up just a bit.

The final touch is to add three of the Gilded Gems to the front of the card. So pretty, and It adds one more bit of gold to the card.

One quick note about the items with a *** beside them. While the items in these bundles are not retiring, they will no longer be available in a bundle after January 3rd, 2022.

Thanks for stopping by today! It’s easy to mute the colours on a project with the image is overlaid with vellum, and the Festive Foliage background stamp gives you a large space to work with. Try this with any stamp that you have, and I’m certain you’ll be pleased with the effect. I’ll be back on Monday with another project – I’m just not sure if it’s going to be a card or tag. I am starting the 12 Days of Gift tags shortly, but I need to plan the days they’re posting. If you have questions about today’s project, or anything else, please add a comment or drop me a quick e-mail and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. Happy Stamping!
