Create a Forest with the Masking Technique

Happy Friday! Last night on Facebook, I taught my stampers how to stamp a forest with the masking technique. It’s really easy with the tree stamps in Stampin’ Up!’s Peaceful Deer stamp set. Especially because the video AND a downloadable tutorial are included in today’s post. Let’s have a quick look.

When I made this card earlier in the week, I was struck by its simplicity and elegance. If you think about it, it’s a row of trees, with the ‘Merry Christmas’ sentiment underneath. However, the images have depth to them, because they don’t all have the same intensity of green. That’s the miracle of double-stamping. When combined with masking, you can create something wonderful and unique. Isn’t this lovely?

The YouTube video below shows you how easy it is to create this card. There are a couple of simple tips to help you mask your cardstock, and properly stamp the trees. Believe it or not, this can be tricky, because you don’t want very straight lines on the trees in your forest. It’s also tough to see in the photo, but there is a whole lot of Wink of Stella on these trees. Glitter in a pen is one of the best inventions EVER.

Don’t forget to stamp the inside! Over the years, I have routinely forgotten to do this, focusing only on the front of the card. I’m working on it, and one of these years maybe I’ll remember to stamp the envelope too!

Below is the YouTube video with instructions on how to create this card. A downloadable tutorial is beneath the video.
