Way to Goat & Picture This Birthday Card Idea

Happy Monday! Today’s card combines Way to Goat with the Picture This dies for a super fun birthday card. The goats are hanging out in their apartments, enjoying themselves. Something tells me that they’re the ones who ate the cake, but who really knows.

When I set out to make this card, my vision wasn’t even close to what you see in the final product. Envisioning an apartment style building with flower boxes, I stamped and cut a few of the boughs from the Plentiful Plants bundle. The first issue I ran into is that I couldn’t decide what to put in the windows. The Picture This dies create great spaces on cards, making it tough to decide what to put into them. I was looking for flowers, but couldn’t seem to find the right fit. Probably because the second issue I ran into is that the boughs are too large. So, we have goats.

Stampin’ Blends were used to colour all of the goats. I know that I continue to say this, but I love my Blends. I freely admit that I had a tough time with them at first, but now I just colour to my heart’s content, blending things as I go. If you’re not sure how colours will look together, just mix them a bit on a piece of scrap cardstock. You’ll quickly discover whether they work well together.

A quick note about the Way to Goat phrases on the card. The one in the top right corner is as it appears on the stamp. The one on the bottom is not because the stamp is actually one phrase written in a straight line. I inked and stamped the first half, and then the other underneath so that it would fit into the circle.

I did consider replacing one of the goats for the “Happy Birthday You Old Goat” phrase, but then the card would have been a tad lopsided. Besides… the goats need to be heard. Or so they say.

    • Hi Ann – sorry for the delay in responding. I didn’t know that your comment was waiting for me! The bricks background is designer series paper that retired last spring. It was glued to the cardstock, and then both were cut with the die.
