Create a fast and easy bunch of flowers with the Vases Builder Punch

It’s Card Swap Thursday, and today I’m featuring a card that I received from one of my downline, Colleen Weddell, late last year. She combined two bright colours with the Vases Builder Punch to create this pretty card.

Isn’t it striking? Colleen CASEd a card originally created by Mary Fish, using Blueberry Bushel and Whisper White for the majority of the elements. The addition of Real Red adds a real punch to this card.

The background is a piece of Blueberry Bushel cardstock that has been die cut with one of the oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits. The cut piece was glued back into the larger rectangle to give the white cardstock a frame.

White strips were added across the card to give it added dimension. They’re only 1/8″ of an inch wide, so it’s easy to take a piece of cardstock that is 4″ wide, and slice off the strips as you move it along your trimmer. Add a bit of Real Red ribbon (this one has since retired), and glue the layer to your card.

*Tip* Add inexpensive elements to a card with strips of cardstock. These can be any width, or inter-mingled with one piece of ribbon.

The main panel was cut with a smaller oval, with the flowers and vase. These were cut with the Vases Builder Punch. It’s versatile because you can punch vases, blooms and leaves – all with one punch! Stems were added using the lines in the Varied Vases stamp set.

There are many examples out there of different ways to use this punch. Papercrafters are a creative bunch, and are always looking for ways to stretch their budget. For instance, the vase on the left, turned upside down, could be a goblet – especially if you slightly trim the neck of the vase.

Where this cute sentiment come from? Itty Bitty Greetings of course. It’s the perfect size on this card. Pop it up with a Stampin’ Dimensional, and you’re good to go. Here’s a close-up of the layers on this card:
