Two ‘Every Chapter’ Cards with Easy Colouring

Happy Monday! Today I have two Stampin’ Up! Every Chapter cards, one of which is mostly CASE’d from the January-June Catalogue. Both feature the same colouring technique, so I’m posting them together.

I had planned on posting these cards last Friday, but didn’t quite make it. It was one of those exhausting work weeks, because we moved almost every book in the store – all at night. By the time Friday came along, I was really, really tired. Clearly my body isn’t up to that kind of work anymore! Anyhow…

Our first card has been mostly CASE’d from one found on page 62 of the Jan-June Mini Catalogue. The background has been simplified, because I opted to use a different piece of the Abstract Beauty Specialty Designer Series Paper, cutting it with a Stitched Rectangle Die.

One of the easiest ways to colour this large image is with Watercolour Pencils. For both of today’s Every Chapter cards, I have used pencils in both Assortment 1 and Assortment 2 (pg. 126 in the Annual Catalogue). Instead of colouring, and then adding water to blend, I just added colour, and left them alone. It reminded me of colouring pictures when I was in grade school, only this time I stayed inside the lines! The colours on this first card are all in the Assortment 2 pack, and are the same as those on the catalogue images – Night of Navy, Balmy Blue, Granny Apple Green, Crushed Curry, and Flirty Flamingo.

Moving on to the second card, you’ll find that the technique is the same, but the colours on this second card are more bold, and pulled from both packs of pencils. Colours are Gorgeous Grape, Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Melon Mambo, Granny Apple Green, and Garden Green.

I choose a piece of black and white DSP, from the same pack, and used a Blending Brush and some Melon Mambo ink to add colour to it. Adding colour to a piece of DSP gives you more flexibility with your design, and you can create a custom background.

Between the coloured image and the background is a piece of vellum, die cut with the largest Scalloped Contours die. It helps to soften the overall look of the card. Two pieces of black/white bakers twine were looped through one of the scallops, and tied in a bow.
