Colouring with Kite Delight & Stampin’ Blends

Happy Wednesday! Today’s project is a fun Kite Delight birthday card, with a kite that has been coloured with Stampin’ Blends. Let’s have a look!

I made this card for a Demonstrator swap earlier this year, and I really like the pop of colour that the coloured kite adds to the card. All of the images in the Kite Delight set are line images, and can very easily be coloured with any of our traditional colouring methods. They’re not fussy, and you don’t need to worry about oodles of blending.

The colours on the kite are Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, and Bermuda Bay. All are in the Brights family, and look SO good together on this kite. After colouring, I took the scissors to the kite and cut along the straight edges. Super easy.

The phrase was stamped in embossed in black, however I didn’t use the traditional method of embossing because I always end up with black embossing powder EVERYWHERE. I opted to ink the stamp in Versamark, then ink it in Memento Black, and then stamp it onto the cardstock. Embossing was done with clear powder so you still get the effect of embossing, but without the mess. This is when I wish that we still had black craft (pigment) ink because I would stamp with that, and immediately emboss with the clear powder. Perfect everytime, and I didn’t have the stray bits of black all over the place.

You’ll notice that there is an embossed layer behind the kite, because I did want a bit of oomph on the card, and not just a flat background. You can never go wrong with a Tasteful Textile 3D embossed background.

Finally, some black baker’s twine was added for the string and bow on the kite, and two of my super-favourite black matte dots finish it off.

The supply list for today’s project can be found at the bottom of the post. The Kite Delight stamp set is available in the Jan-June Mini Catalogue, along with the Stampin’ Blends needed for colouring If you need any stamping supplies, I would be very happy to be your demonstrator. Thanks for stopping by today. It’s not a great day for kite flying outside, because the air is calm. Good for dog walking! The golden retriever is staring at me, wondering when I’m going to take her out into the sunshine. Regardless, colouring with the Kite Delight stamp set and Stampin’ Blends now, will provide you with some fun cards for the spring and summer. They’re coming!!! Don’t forget that tomorrow night is my Facebook Live. Except that I won’t be live because I’ll be at work, moving MORE books around the store. I will post a video though, so make sure you stop by.
