Stampin’ Up! Sweet Strawberry & Give it a Whirl Card

Happy sunny Wednesday! With today’s project we’re using Sweet Strawberry, Give it a Whirl, and a wonderful spring/summer colour combination. Each Wednesday I try and give you a Back to Basics card, which is just not possible with today’s card!

This is a super bright card, because the two main colours are from the Brights family. Even the Colour Chip is bright! Stampin’ Up! has given Demonstrators the Hex codes for each of the colours to help create graphics, like the one below. When entering the Poppy Parade code yesterday when I was creating this week’s Colour Chips, and was surprised by how bright it appears in digital form. The Garden Green only appears on the card as outlines, but it would definitely work in a greater capacity.

Yesterday I mentioned that the wheel itself should be cut from Basic White Thick Cardstock. I will stand by that because it gives the project more stability, especially around the edges of the wheel. Thick cardstock is harder to crease, and easier to grip with your fingernails when turning the wheel.

You definitely need to cut a template for this card, to mask off the images. I also cut and used a mask for the leaves/stem on the strawberry on the wheel.

The flowers were the last thing stamped onto the wheel. I felt they were floating, and decided to quickly add stems with my Garden Green Stampin’ Write Marker. These were stamped using my wheel mask, but I *could* have stamped the one on the top without the mask. It would give you a full image instead of one that is partially cut off, but it’s not necessary to do this.

I’m so pleased to tell you that the Strawberry Punch is finally orderable again! It sold out very quickly this year, and global shipping delays impacted its return to us. The berries and leaves from the Sweet Strawberry stamp set were stamped on Basic White cardstock, and punched with the Strawberry Punch. In all cases I stamped the outlines first, and then added the colour. I find it easier to line everything up this way.

Finally… I stamped the larger flowers & leaves stamp repeatedly on the Granny Apple Green cardstock before I cut it with the large die from the Give it a Whirl die set. Adding Wink of Stella to the flowers gives it a bit of extra bling.

Thanks for stopping by today. I enjoy sharing all of my projects with you, but this Sweet Strawberry Give it a Whirl card is a favourite this week. It’s so bright, and Ontario strawberry season is less than a month away. Today’s project is the 3rd of 5 that you’ll see this week, and I’ll show you exactly how to put them together on Facebook at 7:30pm EDT on Thursday. A sneak preview of tomorrow’s Live project will be posted this afternoon. If you have questions or need help with anything, please email me and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. Until tomorrow, Happy Stamping!
