Stampin’ Up! Peekaboo Farm Repeating Wall

Happy Saturday! Today’s card features a Peekaboo Farm repeating wall that is easy to make with a Stamparatus. This is one of those cards that came together in my head, before I actually put a stamp to paper. I knew that I wanted to try putting a bunch of friends along a wall, but I needed to have a clean wall to add them to.

Unlike many people, I don’t often pull my Stamparatus out, which is a shame because I have such good luck when I use it. It’s very handy and useful when working with this set because you can stamp a perfectly lined up wall. When I use my Stamparatus, I put the stamps on the plate that is open on the left side. You can have the plate on the top, right side, bottom, it really doesn’t matter! What you do need is to have it lined up with the hinges. In my case, it’s vertical on the plate.

Make sure that it’s about an inch from the top, because after your first stamp onto the paper, you’re going to move the plate down two hinges. After the second stamp, you’re going to move it down another two hinges. You can see in the photo below what it will look like when you have stamped it three times. The card is 6″ wide, which is slightly less than what you see in the photo.

The wall was stamped onto Smoky Slate cardstock, and then coloured with Stampin’ Blends. Here’s a word of caution… the cardstock absorbed a lot of ink in the process, and did a decent job of drying out my light Smoky Slate Blend. I suspect that it was already a little low on alcohol, but this card (as well as the ones that followed) did it in. I’m not complaining because I’ve had this duo for a long time at this point. However, it’s something for you to consider.

The colour combination is uncomplicated, if you don’t count the colours on the animals. It is delicate enough to be used on a baby’s card, and hardy enough to be used with a bunch of farm animals. Above is today’s Colour Chip.

Our friendly animals were stamped, coloured, and fussy cut. This is simply the easiest way of having them peer over the wall. The bird was also stamped directly onto the Balmy Blue cardstock. If I hadn’t, the musical notes would have been lost. A second bird was glued overtop after colouring and cutting.

Finally, the phrase on the front was punched with the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch. I had a tough time deciding what to add as an embellishment, because the animals take centre stage on this project. In the end, I wrapped two colours of Baker’s Twine from the new Essentials Pack, three times around the end of the cardstock. The white and grey twines give it a bit of extra oomph.
