Quick Checkerboard Thank You Card

Hello stampers! I created today’s quick checkerboard Thank You card based on a card that I found in a very old issue of Paper Crafts magazine. The magazine has been defunct for some time now, but I held onto the issues that I have, for inspiration. More on that below.

A stamper mentioned to me that it looks like it would take a lot of effort to make this card. In fact, the reverse is true.

To create this card, cut 1-1/4″ squares from the 2019-2021 6″x6″ Designer Series Paper pack. With this pack, you don’t have to think about matching patterns or colours. The pack does it for you. The next step is gluing them to the card. Here’s a tip for you:

*Tip* Cut a piece of copy paper that is 3-3/4″ square. Use your SNAIL to glue to the paper, beginning in one of the corners. You can then adhere the entire square to the cardstock. SO much easier than gluing all of them down, only to realize that the border around the edges is uneven.

I used the Thank You die and to create the sentiment on the front, and SNAIL to adhere it a piece of vellum without. The most difficult part of this card is attaching the vellum without seeing the glue underneath, and positioning the Faceted Dots so that they’re even in all corners. Here’s another tip for you:

*Tip* Place your vellum on a piece of grid paper, and position your Faceted Dots based on the grid lines. Add glue dots to the vellum, behind the Dots, and then place on the card.

I spent some time recently pulling photos from my old magazines, looking for layouts that I wanted to try. This is the first card, but watch for others. I may post card recipes/maps as well, but we’ll start with this. It’s summer, kids are home, and combined with my work schedule, it can be difficult to find time to get it all done.

Thanks for stopping by today! I rather like this quick checkboard thank you card. It was easy to make, and has a great look to it. I’m off to clean up my stamp room after yesterday’s classes. I have a habit of dropping things that we have used onto the floor, so that I don’t mix things up. It always results in a huge mess! Wish me luck 🙂
