Today’s Flamingo Friday, and I’ve got a fun Melon Mambo Friendly Flamingo card for you. As you know, I’m a sucker for flamingos, the brighter the better! Let’s have a look.
Isn’t he pretty? The best part is that it takes a single stamp to create this beautifully intricate image. The Friendly Flamingo stamp set is one of Stampin’ Up!s DistINKtive stamp sets. These are manufactured in a way that allows you to create these intricate images without having to stamp the image more than once.
After I stamped our friend with Melon Mambo ink, I did colour his eye with a Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker, just because I wanted to. You could easily leave it alone. Diecutting the bird was super easy with the coordinating die from the Flamingo Dies set. The ‘happy birthday’ sentiment is in the same stamp set. I opted to cover half of the sentiment at a time with Memento Ink so that I could split the sentiment on the card.
Adding a thin piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock behind the embossed piece of Granny Apple Green provides a visual break on the card. I quite often forget to use embossing folders on my cards, but when looking through my basket of folders, thought that this one from the Greenery set would work with the bird. There are two thinner folders in that set, and they fit into the Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. The larger ones are too wide.
A bit of the white twine from the Snail Mail Twine Combo Pack was wrapped around and tied in a very small and tight knot on the backside of the card front. Three different sized Basic Rhinestones were added to finish off the project.
