Love What You Do with No Line Watercolouring

Good morning stampers! Today’s card features the flower bunch from Love What You Do and the No Line Watercolouring technique. This bunch is an excellent stamp to use with this technique.

Wendy's Little Inklings: Love What You Do with No Line Watercolouring

I found this card relatively easy to create – the trick with no line watercolouring is is patience, and not using too much water! The flowers were inked with Sahara Sand ink, and then stamped off twice on scrap paper before being stamped onto the watercolour paper.

The flowers were watercoloured in Rich Razzleberry. The easiest way to do this is to squeeze the lid of your inkpad, so that you have ink on the lid to pick up with an Aqua Painter.

I suggest that when colouring the flowers, that you start with the petals in the middle of each bloom. Pick up the ink from the lid, making sure that the Aqua Painter is mostly dry. As the petals are relatively small, adding a pool of water to them will really increase the drying time needed before you can add colour to the adjacent petals. Remember… the petal needs to be dry otherwise the ink will run together and you’ll lose that defining line between them. Here’s a close-up:

To colour the stems, pick up a bit of Old Olive ink from its lid, and then draw it down the stem towards you. One tidbit from my folk art painting days – it’s always easier to pull a line towards you than away from you. Don’t forgot to add ink to the leaves!

The colours on this card were pulled from the Share What You Love Designer Series Paper. This paper is being retired on June 3rd, but the coordinating Love What You Do stamp set will be in the 2019-2020 Annual Catalogue. I’ll miss the paper because it lovely patterns that work well on all types of projects.

*Tip* I didn’t have thin coordinating ribbon for this card, because I found the 1/4″ Velvet Ribbon to be too heavy on the eye. So, I took the Light Rich Razzleberry Stampin’ Blend, and coloured a piece of White Baker’s Twine with it. Let it dry for a couple of moments, and attach to the back of the image with tape. Yes, tape. Otherwise it will likely come undone and you’ll have a flapping piece of twine!
