Honeybee Home Card with Hive Background

Happy Friday! Today’s Honeybee Home card has a wonderful background, created with the Hive 3D Embossing folder, and our Soft Pastels.

There are a few different elements on this card, starting with the stamping itself. Honeybee Home has stamps that work well with each other, but also with the stamps in the Blessings of Home stamp set. Both are in the Heart & Home Suite, so all of the stamps, paper, and embellishments were designed to work in tandem with each other. The flowers on this card were stamped with Memento Black ink, and then coloured with Stampin’ Blends.

Die cutting the flowers was easy with the Honeybee Blooms dies because it’s not a difficult die to line up with the images. Grass was cut from cardstock, and the last flower die, in behind the other die cuts, was cut from a piece of Gold Metallic Specialty Paper, found in the Annual Catalogue. It’s not a smooth sheet of paper, but it’s not overly sparkly either, and looks lovely with the bees.

To create the background, simply emboss the cardstock with the Hive 3D Embossing folder. Take the Daffodil Delight Soft Pastel, and run the long edge across the paper. The chalk adheres itself to the raised edges of the paper, creating a background that is strong in some places, and muted in others. You can add as much or as little colour as you want – if you think there’s a bit too much, you can rub it off. Worried about the rest of the colour coming off on your hands? Lightly seal it with a spray sealer.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the die cuts to the card, and then added the sentiment on top with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Don’t you just love the bees? These Bumblebee Trinkets are in the Annual Catalogue, but we’ll have to check the retirement list later this month to see if they appear. If so, you’ll want to secure yours because I think they’ll quickly disappear. Stay tuned…
