Good morning stampers! Today’s Hello Cupcake card is one that I CASE’d from the Sale-a-Bration catalogue, but I’ve added an easy tip for creating the popped up layers of the icing.
The Hello Cupcake stamp set, and the original photo of this card, can be found on page 6 of the Sale-a-Bration catalogue. You can earn this for FREE with a $60 purchase (before tax/shipping) during Sale-a-Bration.
A panel was die cut using the new Rectangle Stitched Framelits, and the sentiment repeatedly stamped to create a background. This panel was glued to the card base. The smaller vellum cardstock piece was attached with SNAIL adhesive, but only under the centre so that they adhesive was hidden.
I was trying to figure out from the photo how the Stampin’ Up! artists were able to pop-up the hand-cut layers of icing without creating a card that would be too thick to mail. I don’t know how they actually did it, but I know how I did it. Look below and you’ll see how the Stampin’ Dimensionals are stacked in a way that gives extra lift to the bottom of the layers.
The cupcake liner was popped up with Dimensionals. The other layers were then added, starting with the purple icing, and ending with the blue icing.
*Tip* Add Stampin’ Dimensionals to both the top and bottom of the back side of your icing. Attach the icing layers to the card, so that the bottom Dimensional is glued to the popped up layer below.
For example, the bottom Dimensional on the Highland Heather icing is glued to the top of the Soft Suede cupcake liner. The top Dimensional is glued direct to the vellum. You can see the last layer really well in the photo above. Look below for a different close-up of the card layers.
One outstanding feature of this set is that you can create an entire birthday card with just one set of stamps. There’s no need to go to your wall of stamps to find an appropriate sentiment for the card. The set is also available in French.
