Good morning stampers! Today we’re looking at a few Happy Tails colour combos, which fits very well with the animal theme for the Fee household this week. Normally all we have is a Golden Retriever. We currently have two dogs and a cat here, and we’re cat-sitting two fluffies at another house. It’s a busy March Break!!! Let’s look at our card.
This card was CASEd from one originally created by Sue Mohr, but I completely changed the colour scheme. When choosing the colours, I used our downloadable colour coach. If you’re having difficulties choosing colours for your project, this is an excellent resource.
The new Rectangle Stitched Framelits are larger than any of our other stitched dies. We quite often cut the main layer on our cards at 5-1/4″ x 4″, and the largest rectangle in this set is 5-1/4″ x 3-7/8″. The set is $48, but I’m certain it will be a staple in your collection. I don’t always buy coordinating dies for my stamps, but I have all of the main layering dies. They’re a must.
Here’s a look at the detail on the main panel. The stitching on these dies is detailed, and even (sometimes they’re not!). They also coordinate with the size of your paper. Smaller dies = smaller stitching.
One of the benefits of this stamp set is that you can mix and match colours as well as colouring methods to create custom dogs. My chicken scratch on the photo below outlines what I used to create each of the dogs on the cardstock. The top two were stamped with Memento ink and coloured with Stampin’ Blends, while the two on the bottom were stamped.
The larger spots on today’s dog were stamped in Crumb Cake, while the small spots were stamped at half strength with Soft Suede ink.
*Tip* To layer colours, you can stamp some spots at full strength, while stamping others at half strength. To do this, just ink your stamp, and then stamp it on a scrap piece of paper before stamping your image.
You can find the full supply list for this project at the bottom of this post. Shop my Online Store for all of your stamping needs, and don’t forget to add the March Host Code (W9D4VBDU) to receive a Project Helper Tutorial at the end of the month as part of my Online Rewards Program. If your order is over $200, choose the Stampin’ Rewards instead, and I’ll still send the Tutorial!
