Good morning stampers! Today I’m sharing birthday card that spotlights our Grapefruit Grove Foil & Piece of Cake stamps. I do have an important note about the Foil Sheets, which you can find below. You’ll also find a photo of my dog, enjoying the snow in what has become a typical Canadian winter. She loves it out there!
Product Alert!
The Grapefruit Grove & Lovely Lipstick Foil Sheets in the Sale-a-Bration are leaving the warehouse faster than anticipated, and they may not be available during the entire Sale-a-Bration period.
Since I posted the video about the Foil Sheets on Saturday, AND we know that they may not be available until the end of Sale-a-Bration, I’m focusing on both colours of the sheets in posts today and tomorrow.
Today’s colour scheme is Night of Navy, Grapefruit Grove and Whisper White. I was looking for a good set of colours to work with the foil paper, and found it in the Happiness Blooms DSP.
The Grapefruit Grove Foil is a bit of an enigma because it’s difficult to capture the true colour of the foil. It’s like there’s a rainbow of colour on your card! You can see it in the photo above and in the photo below.
Hold the foil sheet in your hand, move it slightly, and you’ll see the rainbow change. It’s magical and soothing all at the same time. To cut down the sheen a bit, I opted to emboss it with the Subtle Embossing Folder. Look at the cake stand in the above photo, and compare it with the bigger piece to see the difference.
*Tip* Emboss your Foil Paper to soften the shine. This is useful when you don’t want the foil to be the focal point on your project.
The cake itself was stamped and coloured with Stampin’ Write markers. The sentiment was embossed in white on Night of Navy cardstock. I went a little overboard with the Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots, but I love the effect. It’s something different than straight colouring. My son’s 19th (!) birthday is next week, so he may get this card. Then again, he’s a pretty masculine kid teen, so maybe not. Here’s a close-up of the dots:

One last photo today… I took the Ginny-dog to the park after we finished shovelling out the driveway. The snow was 3/4 up her legs, so she just jumped around and then sank into it. She was a happy girl but had to come home because she had snowballs caught in her paws. It’s the life of a Golden.
Thanks for stopping by today! The temps are supposed to dramatically drop this afternoon, so stay warm!
Gorgeous card. Our dog saved her bathroom break for over 18 hours before she would head out even after Daddy cleared off the deck and a special spot for her. That’s our princess 👑🐶
It’s really cold out there! Ginny will go out into the backyard, but I’m not walking her until things warm up. She may have a thick winter coat, but her paws and nose will be unprotected. Stay warm!!
