Stampin’ Up! Friendly Flamingo Ombre Card

Hello stampers! Today’s project is a Friendly Flamingo Ombre card, created for January’s Facebook Sale-a-bration Extravaganza. If you missed the event, the second part of the extravaganza is taking place on Saturday, February 13th. You can still join the group, and scroll back through the posts from earlier in January. Further details are near the bottom of this post.

Today’s Friendly Flamingo Ombre card has a few steps to it, as the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine is needed to create the card as you see it in the photos. Let’s start with the background… The card base itself is Melon Mambo, with a piece of the Bermuda Bay Oh So Ombre Designer Series Paper cut to size. This paper is wonderful. It’s FREE with a $60 purchase, and I have used a bunch of it on my winter projects.

Once cut to size, it was embossed with the Tasteful Texture 3D embossing folder. I also pulled out the largest of the Stitched Whimsy dies, which are fun to use by easily overlooked in the January-June Mini Catalogue. You can see both in the photo below.

The flamingo itself was die cut using the Flamingo Dies. Melon Mambo and Flirty Flamingo are the colours of today’s bird, but with a significant difference from all of the other die cut birds that I will post. He has black legs and feet! This is easy to do because you’re going to die cut another bird all in black. Cut off the pink legs from the Melon Mambo bird, and replace them with black. *A quick tip* When cutting the black legs, cut a bit of the bottom of the bird’s body as well. Use this section to can attach them to the pink bird, making sure that the legs are properly positioned .

Cut a circle from the Stitched Shapes die set, and attach to the base. Layer your bird on top and glue him down. (Yes, I refer to all of my pink birds as ‘he’. No idea why!) Stamp your Friendly Flamingo sentiment with Versamark and emboss with white embossing powder. Pull out the uber-versatile Banners Pick a Punch to punch the ends and adhere with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The final step is to add some pretty Elegant Faceted Gems and you’re good to go!
