Flamingo Friday: CASEing an Artisan Stamper

Good morning stampers!  It’s Flamingo Friday, and today’s card is one that was CASE’d from Artisan Stamper Jessica Winter.  We stamped this last month in my Flamingo class, and it’s definitely a card for more advances stampers.  But, it’s SUCH a pretty card.  (Can you tell I’m biased?)

Wendy's Little Inklings: CASEing an Artisan Stamper on Flamingo Friday

As you can see, there’s a lot going on with this bird.  The flamingo itself was stamped with the Stamparatus.  We didn’t use the outline stamps from Fabulous Flamingo, which provides a softer look for the bird.  I went with the Powder Pink and Flirty Flamingo colour combination again, which is my current goto combo at the moment.  It pairs extremely well with the stamped leaves (see below!)  His beak and eye were coloured using a Black Stampin’ Write marker.

I cannot say enough about the Stamparatus, because lining up two step stamps on the tool ensures that you can stamp a perfect image.  I have one Stamparatus right now that is dedicated to my Fabulous Flamingo stamps.  It took me a half hour (and a lot of wrecked paper!) to get them just right because the outline stamps are so dark, and need to have a soak.  Now I don’t want to take them off until I stamp a whack of birds!

The leaves and hibiscus flowers from the Tropical Chic stamp set were all solidly inked.  Before stamping, we added colour using sponge daubers.  It gives each leaf and flower additional depth, and none are exactly the same.  Here’s the formula for each:

  • Hibiscus – ink in Powder Pink, add Flirty Flamingo around the edge
  • Large palm leaves – ink in Granny Apple Green, add Shaded Spruce to centre spine and one side of leaf
  • Smaller leaves – ink in Soft Sea Foam, add Granny Apple Green around the edge

All of the leaves were cut with the Tropical Thinlits dies, and some Linen Thread added behind the leaves/flamingo.  Here’s an up close look at how it all fits together:
