Today’s project is a birthday card created with the Friendly Flamingo. Yes, it’s not Friday, so I can’t call it the missing Flamingo Friday post. However, it’s only a day late so we’re going with Flamingo Saturday!
This card is quite easy to make once the flamingo has been die cut and assembled. I die cut this bird from Melon Mambo cardstock, and added a bit of black beneath one wing. The wing has also been popped up with a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional to give it a bit of lift.
I have been highlighting retiring In Colours all week; on this card, it is the embossed Seaside Spray cardstock behind the Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper. This DSP has some fun summer patterns and colours, and works very well with flamingos.
The cardstock and DSP was mounted onto a piece of Thick Basic White cardstock. The fold is at the top of the card and was scored before folding. When folding on the long end of our cardstock, you definitely want to score it first otherwise you end up with a jagged fold line.
The sentiment on this card can be found in the Friendly Flamingo stamp set. Remember that if you order both the stamps and dies as a bundle, you will save 10% versus purchasing them separately.
I promised that I would post the photos of my “flamingo experiments” and I will – on next week’s true Flamingo Friday post. They need a bit of editing, and I don’t want to miss anyone who is curious about their creation.
