Butterfly Brilliance Birthday Card Idea

Happy Tuesday! I have a super-purple Butterfly Brilliance Birthday Card for you today. It does have a ink blended background, and is a lovely card for someone who adores purple. Now, I freely admit that I like pink a lot more than purple, but I have some diehard purple-loving friends that would appreciate this card. Let’s have a look.

First off, this card is 4-1/2″ square, so you can make 2 cards from one sheet of cardstock with a strip left over for your scrap pile. The base for this card is Gorgeous Grape, with a 4″ x 4″ Basic White mat in behind.

Creating the 3-1/4″ x 3-1/4″ background piece behind the butterfly is easy with our Blending Brushes. Beginning at one end of the Basic White cardstock, swirl on some Highland Heather Ink, moving down the paper. Next, add Gorgeous Grape from the bottom, moving up the paper. You will want the bottom to be darker than the top. It is entirely up to you what the level of contrast is between the top and bottom. This card is quite dark, but there is still an ombre feel to it.

The Butterfly Brilliance stamp is one large stamp, with all of the butterflies connected together. Ink up the largest butterfly, and stamp it onto a piece of scrap Basic White cardstock. You *can* die cut the image at that point, but I chose to colour it with Highland Heather markers before cutting. It just gives you a bit of paper to hold onto while you’re colouring.

Wrap a piece of Gorgeous Grape 3/8″ Sheer Ribbon around the corners, securing it down so that it doesn’t slide all over the place. It’s pretty ribbon, but a bit slippery to work with. You can now glue the entire layer to the card. Adhere your butterfly as well.

Finally, the Happy Birthday greeting has been stamped onto a 5/8″ wide strip of Basic White, and punched with the Treasured Tags Pick a Punch. Three Elegant Faceted Gems finish off the card.

Thanks for stopping by today! If you love today’s Butterfly Brilliance Birthday card, add a comment below. Feedback is good, because it helps me decided what my stampers love, and where to turn to when creating new projects. I’m now heading back into the room of my kids. We’re eliminating the bright green paint, changing it to something a tad more soothing. I think it’s kind of an aqua colour, but we’ll see what it looks like on the walls. So, if you have questions, please e-mail them and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. Until tomorrow, Happy Stamping!
