Blended Happiest of Birthdays Card

Happy Friday! Today’s project is a blended Happiest of Birthdays card. I’m combining ink, blending brushes and embossing to create a bright birthday card with some punch to it. Let’s have a look.

The card base for this card is Melon Mambo, and the ink colours that you’ll need are Gorgeous Grape, Melon Mambo and Bumblebee. You’ll also need Blending Brushes to add the colour to your card. I began by adding the Bumblebee ink to the top of the card. It seems that I’m always reminding my stampers to begin just off the edge, swirling the ink onto the card, but it’s necessary. All of us mess up (even super-seasoned stampers!), and that extra step prevents you from adding a big blotch to your card.

The next step is to swirl the Melon Mambo onto the cardstock. You’ll need to do this from the sides, and it does take a bit of effort to blend it into the centre, and then up into the Bumblebee. Finally, add the Gorgeous Grape in the same fashion. Blend until you’re pleased with the results.

The phrase on the front of the card is in the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set. Large phrases that stand alone on a card are wonderful to have in your collection because they work so well by themselves. Especially on a background such as this one. I chose to emboss this one with white embossing powder, and it doesn’t need a lot of extras because of the colour behind it.

To give the greeting a bit of a frame, I used the second largest Stitched with Whimsy die and my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. Three clear epoxy dots finish the card off nicely.

Thanks for stopping by today! Our blended Happiest of Birthdays card does require a bit more work, but only because you need to take the time to blend the colour on. Aside from that, it’s super easy. I have one more blended birthday card, that I’ll post next week. First I need to get through today and the weekend. Fortunately, I didn’t catch Covid. What I did catch is a nasty cold, which is clearly still in my system. Working 7 hours today is going to be tough, but I have a Starbucks next door, so coffee is easy to come by. I’m heading to Ottawa with one of my kids this weekend, but am taking my laptop etc. so that I can do class and blog planning for the next few weeks. I may take a Paper Pumpkin too because I have one that I haven’t put together yet. So… enjoy your weekend, watch my Facebook feed for posts this weekend, and if you have questions, please e-mail them and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. Until tomorrow, Happy Stamping!
