I’m a sucker for snowflakes, so one of my favourite items in the Holiday Catalogue is the Beautiful Blizzard Bundle. Today’s card is one my Open House make and takes from last weekend.
I know, you’re looking at the snowflakes and asking yourself “how did she cut all of the snowflakes into an intricate pattern?” The answer is… I didn’t. The Blizzard Thinlits die is a single 5″x4″ die that cuts everything you see above all at once!
*Tips* When running this die through the Big Shot, place it on an angle on your plate, rather than placing it square with the edges. I would also run it through twice, and then check that the entire piece has been cut before taking it off of the die.
The hardest part of working with this die is punching out the snowflakes. The big ones are more intricate than the small ones, so it will take a *bit* of work.
*Tip* Place a sheet of parchment paper between the die and the cardstock before cutting. Many people will tell you to use wax paper, but I prefer parchment so that you don’t end up with wax on the die. It’s a personal thing, but it works for me. Parchment can be expensive, but I have the big rolls from Costco, which is much more cost effective when cutting lots of pieces.
Have a look at those snowflakes! One of the best parts about Blizzard Thinlits die is that you can take all of the pieces that popped out and use them on another card!!! I have a bucket in my stamp room that has snowflakes of all colours, depending on the cardstock that I cut them from.
The sentiment on the card is from the Beautiful Blizzard stamp set. This is more of a winter stamp set than a Christmas stamp set, so you can use it for winter birthdays. I chose to use Real Red to make the snowflakes pop, and it suited the sentiment. However, the majority of the cards that I have created have been in shades of blue.
You can find the full supply list at the bottom of the post. Click on any photo to go to my online store. The stamps and punch can be purchased separately, or as part of a bundle. Purchase the bundle and save 10%.
*Tip* Always look to see if stamps and coordinating tools can be purchased as a bundle to save 10%. One of my clients at the Open House didn’t realize that there was a bundle available, and almost paid full price for both! Good thing we caught this when we reviewed her order.
Be sure to add the September Host Code (CZ2SQAX4) to your Online Order, and receive a link to 15 Exclusive Project Helper Guides at the end of the month. If your order is $200+, choose the Stampin’ Rewards and receive the link as well as the rewards.
