Happy Tuesday! Today’s project is another Artistically Inked card, with a background that has been created with alcohol markers & vellum. It’s another super-steamy day out there; perfect for hiding in your craft room to escape the heat and humidity. I’d love to do this today, but I’m heading to work today.
Yesterday I introduced you to the Expressions in Ink Suite. Two elements of that suite are on today’s card, which has been created by a really good friend of mine, Colleen Weddell. The Artistically Inked Bundle has been super popular, and the alcohol & vellum background technique is EVERYWHERE this spring/summer. I’m almost embarrassed to say that I haven’t tried it yet, but it’s on my radar. I just have these things called the bookstore and kids to contend with first.
Colleen combined Isopropyl Alcohol and the Magenta Madness Stampin’ Blends to create this gorgeous, yet pleasing background. Vellum is required for the alcohol to stay wet just long enough to move the ink around, and the colour is soft enough that Basic White layers well overtop.
Colleen embossed the ‘thanks’ from the stamp set onto Basic White cardstock, using gold embossing powder. It’s one of the colours in our Metallics Emboss Powders collection. It was then die cut with a shape from the Tasteful Labels collection. I have a few die sets that are my ‘must haves’ and this is one. It is different sizes of different shapes, which makes it easy to find something that will work with your phrase/sentiment.
The one element of this suite that is unavailable at the moment, is the Expressions in Ink Ephemera Pack. The pretty gold foil leaves on this card are from the pack. With any luck, they’ll be available in a couple of weeks. I’m crossing my fingers because I ordered some a month ago, and they haven’t shipped yet. Colleen also added three of the Gilded Gems to the card. All of these metallics work so well together on this card.

Thanks for stopping by today. I am going to try the alcohol on vellum technique this week, and might even be able to show you the results. It really all depends on what’s going on around the house. It’s entirely possible that there will only be 2 people here tomorrow night (including me!), so I may be able to play without interruption. I am only working 2 days a week at the bookstore during the summer, but when you combine this with everything else, it becomes difficult to focus at times. I’m sure that you know what I mean…
Tomorrow’s project is another Artistically Inked card with a different alcohol vellum background. It too is lovely, but is completely different from today’s card. I know that Thursday is Canada Day, but I have a card ready to go for our Facebook Live stamping at 7:30pm.
