Happy Tuesday everyone! June has arrived, and brought fabulous weather with it. Perfect for goats! Today Way to Goat meets the Give it a Whirl dies, which is a pretty good mashup. As it’s the beginning of a new month, I have news to share! Scroll down for everything that you need to know.
I mentioned yesterday that when I was looking for images that would fit inside the openings for the wheel, I made a vellum template. Searching through the catalogue, placing the template over images, I discovered that the goats fit perfectly. They were on my wishlist, so Way to Goat made it into my stamp room, along with the Give it a Whirl dies. No regrets with that order!
Let’s begin with the colour scheme for this card. There are only three main colours + Basic White. Save the Colour Chip to keep this combination handy, and don’t forget that you can see all of my Colour Chips in my Stamping Resources.
When you turn the wheel on the card, you’ll see that there are 3 different goats. All were coloured with Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends, and the largest goat was fussy cut and added to the card with dimensionals. Be forewarned… it’s a bit of work to cut out the goat. Take your time, and remember to turn the goat, not your hands when you’re cutting.
I’d love to say that I have someone to give this card to right now, but I have anyone specific in mind. Although, it is my birthday in the next few days, so maybe I’ll give it to myself! Anyhow… the sentiment on this card is in the stamp set, along with some others that are fun. The ‘You’re the G.O.A.T.’ phrase would be perfect for a Father’s Day card. Which I still need to make, because it’s only a couple of weeks away.
*Tip* I feel that it’s absolutely necessary to die cut the wheel from Basic White Thick Cardstock, for two reasons. First, it gives your card extra stability and there is less likely to be damage when the wheel is turned repeatedly – which it will be! Second, when you cut it, you’ll faintly see the lines from the three spokes that are on the die. They are perfectly spaced and guide your stamping.
*Second Tip* Cut a wheel from regular weight Basic White cardstock, cut an opening, and use this is a mask when you’re stamping. You cannot allow the images to overlap one another, because you’ll see it on the wheel when it’s being turned. Using the mask prevents this.
