Happy Monday! Today’s CASE the Catalogue Monday project was made with the Sweet as a Peach bundle. We’re at the end of strawberry season, and the middle of raspberry season, but we’re getting closer to Ontario peach season. I’m a sucker for most summer fruit, but I adore peaches. Especially the ones that are soft and juicy. My husband does NOT like peaches, so this definitely isn’t a card for him. Scroll down for details, and a tutorial to help you recreate the card.
The Sweet as a Peach bundle is part of the larger You’re a Peach Suite, found on pages 60-61 of the Annual Catalogue. Also included in the suite are the fun You’re a Peach Designer Series paper, and very cute little Mini Jam Jars. Today though I’m only using the stamps and dies, and I chose to recreate the project that appears with the bundle on page 161. The photos for the bundles are smaller, and the projects are often a bit easier to recreate – which is good for you because they’re a great starting point for using your new dies & stamps.
Today’s Colour Chip has four colours on it, because I opted to add the three colours of ink as well as the colour for the card base. You can find the Colour Chip on the Resources Page, along with all others that I have posted to this point. Make sure you bookmark the link!
I was surprised that the Stampin’ Up! artists didn’t choose to use a piece of the You’re a Peach DSP, opting instead to use a piece from the Hand-Penned DSP pack. You could certainly substitute the paper, because there are wonderful patterns in the pack that matches the suite. Don’t forget that you can enjoy a 15% discount on select DSP packs in July.
The Sweet as a Peach stamp set it a DistINKtive set which means that you get depth to your images without stamping more than once. My Calypso Coral inkpad is juicier that I would like, so I stamped a whole bunch of peaches before I had one that I liked. The leaves are stamped in Mossy Meadow, which is a fairly dark green. Stamping off on scrap paper for stamping onto the cardstock lightened up the colour and helped to show the details. Die cutting the images was a snap with the Peach Dies. No fussy cutting these babies!
I really like the look of the Paper Lattice on my projects. This shouldn’t be a surprise considering that one of the only big SU! Sizzix dies that I have kept over the years is the Lattice die. The Paper Lattice wasn’t something that I noticed the first time I flipped through the book, but it’s such an easy way to add a bit of detailing to a card. The artists cut the edges from this piece to rough it up a bit, and you can easily cut pieces down to smaller sizes to suit your card.
