Stampin’ Up! Purple Catching Butterflies Card

Happy Friday! It’s a little early for today’s purple Catching Butterflies card, because there is still a whack of snow out there. However, today’s it’s a fun project to colour, and will make a little girl very happy when she receives it. A quick reminder that Sale-a-bration ends on Monday night, and this stamp set is one of the freebies that you can earn with a $60 purchase.

When I set out to make this card, I didn’t envision the entire project being purple. As I mentioned earlier this week, I’m not one of those people that LOVE purple. I’m more of a blue, red & pink kinda gal. However, I started with a piece of the Gorgeous Grape Simply Marbleous paper (also a Sale-a-bration freebie), and it went from there.

Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape combine nicely to create pretty cards that are relative monochromatic, but you can spice them up with colour. On this card, I used the new Natural Tones collection of Stampin’ Blends for her face and hair. I’m so pleased to have different colours that can be used for this. It’s tough to see, but grass has been stamped below the girl in Garden Green.

As we don’t have Gorgeous Grape Stampin’ Blends, I pulled out my Highland Heather Blends. They coordinate, and are certainly dark enough to add the details to her dress. A light Smoky Slate Blend adds the lines to her net.

Before gluing down the coloured layer to the card, a bit of Gorgeous Grape 3/8″ Sheer Ribbon was wrapped around. I found that when I was placing the phrase on the front that it was just a bit too plain, and needed that last ribbon.
