Stampin’ Up! Counting Sheep Card created from a sketch

Happy Wednesday! I was finally able to spend some time in my stamp room this week, and created two Counting Sheep cards from the same card sketch. I’m posting the first today, along with sketch, and the second tomorrow. It’s slightly different, and you’ll see why.

Isn’t she adorable? I feel like she’s singing to the person that’s receiving the card, and she looks fabulous against such a bright background. The sketch that I based the card on is this one originally posted by Newton’s Nook, another stamp company. I like to mix things up and look at images and sketches from all over, not just Stampin’ Up!, for ideas.

The card base on today’s card is Granny Apple Green cardstock, and the Designer Series Paper on top is in the Pattern Party Host 12″ x 12″ Paper Pack. There are such vibrant colours on this paper, and it was easy to mix and match cardstock based on the colours. In addition, the back side of each sheet has a black/white pattern. This 48-sheet pack is available to Hosts for $24 ($40 value). If you love it, we need to chat and create a virtual party for you and your friends.

Mademoiselle Sheep, from the Counting Sheep set, was stamped with Memento Black ink. Colouring her was easy with the Smoky Slate and Basic Black Stampin’ Blends. Once finished, I simply die cut the image with the coordinating sheep from the Sheep Dies. Both the Counting Sheep stamp set and Sheep dies are Sale-a-Bration rewards. Each are free with a $60 purchase OR you can choose them both with a $120 purchase.

Three strips of cardstock were punched with the Banners Pick a Punch. You can see in the photos that one has embossing, along with the Poppy Parade circle behind the sheep. This was such a fun card to make.

Do you see the small epoxy dots around the edge of the circle? These ones are clear, and unobtrusive, but I like the effect. Probably because I love small embellishments like this on cards.
