Happy Friday everyone! There are big fluffy flakes falling from the sky outside my window. It’s a great day to post a Snow is Glistening card with repeated snowflake stamping that I stamped for last weekend’s Stamp Your Holiday event. It features a Stamparatus technique that really helps to make the most of one of the stamps from the set.
Today’s card was CASE’d from one stamped by Claudia Strauchfuss. The only colours on the card are Blushing Bride and Whisper White, with some Sparkle Glimmer Paper. When I first saw Claudia’s sample, I was intrigued as to how she managed to stamp the line of snowflakes across the middle. I have to say… it’s really easy to do.
There are two things that you need to do in order to get the perfect line of snowflakes.
- Use the gridlines when placing your stamp on the plate to make sure that it is straight.
- Mark the centre of the card with a very small pencil mark on one side of the cardstock. When you place the cardstock on the Stamparatus, the edge of the stamp should be slightly over this mark, because you want the images to combine when you stamp them.
After everything is set up, you’ll ink up your stamp, and stamp the image onto the cardstock. Take the plate out of its hinges, and move it to the right so that you can ink/stamp again beside the first stamp. Repeat across the cardstock. Once finished, turn the cardstock over, and make sure that your cardstock is placed so that you are stamping overtop of the original line of stamping. They don’t overlap by much, probably 1/8″, but it’s enough to get the line.
*Tip* When you first place the cardstock on the Stamparatus, mark the upper left corner of the cardstock on the grid paper. You’ll know exactly where to place the cardstock when you flip it around to stamp the other side of it.
Die cutting the Snowfall Thinlits snowflakes is really easy. The largest and smallest flakes on this card were cut from Sparkle Glimmer Paper, while the middle one was cut from Blushing Bride cardstock. The top two were glued together, and then set on top of the third with a Stampin’ Dimensional. The big snowflake was glued directly to the card.
