Good morning stampers! Today’s Sailing Home Double Point card is one of the projects that we created at last week’s Fun Folds class. Scroll down, and you’ll also see two additional cards that I made on my own. First up is the class project, but not before I remind you that there are only three Bonus Days left to earn your August coupons! Details below.
This card is quite easy to make, and easy to recreate once you know the measurements of the DSP. This design, and the one immediately below, are Wendy originals. The last sample was CASEd from Lisa Flemming, and was the inspiration for the other two.
Starting with a simple nautical colour scheme (see below), you need a piece of 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ Night of Navy cardstock for the base, and a piece of 5-1/4″ x 4″ Whisper White. The triangles are each 4″ x 3″, and have been scored 1″ from the long edge. This is the section that will be glued behind the white cardstock.
*Tip* If using DSP with a directional image, make sure that the images on both pieces are lined up in the same direction. These cards would look odd if the boats/lighthouses ran in two different directions!
Once you have the fold line for the triangles, simply fold the corners down to meet the score line. The paper won’t meet precisely in the middle (scroll further down to see example). If this bothers you, the 3″ side of the paper needs to be cut slightly longer. However… if using the above measurements, you can get 6 cards out of a sheet of DSP. If you cut the DSP a bit longer, you won’t be able to do this.
The centre piece for the card above was created using the Stitched Shapes and Layering Circles dies. I stamped the boat twice (once onto scrap paper), and die cut one of them, adding it to the circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals. the sentiment was stamped onto Balmy Blue cardstock, die cut, and attached to the card. Adding a bit of Baker’s Twine finishes it off. When gluing the piece to the card, make sure you only glue the tip of the top triangle to the circle! Otherwise you’ll glue your card closed 🙂
Here are the other cards that I showed off during the class. Both use products from the Come Sail Away Suite. Adding a bit of Wink of Stella to the boat on the card below not only adds shimmer, it moves the ink slightly so to give the sail a watercoloured look. Love it!
The last card is Lisa’s card, that I recreated in my cool stamping studio. (It literally is the coolest place in the house. We’re in the middle of a heat wave and my A/C isn’t working so well!)
The full supply list for all three cards can be found below. Order any stamping supplies that you need for this project by clicking on the links. You can also go directly to my Online Store. If you order is over $25, add the July Host Code (CCKHEC6W) to receive a free Tutorial Bundle at the end of the month.
