Good morning! It’s Card Swap Thursday, and I have a Rooted in Nature card with copper accents to share with you. Their sheen elevates the card to a higher level.
Shirley Hannah created this card, and while there are a lot of different elements on it, it’s well balanced. There are three different copper elements: heat embossing, foil sheet & copper trim.
A solid rule of thumb when working with metallics is to use at least 2 on a project. Shirley has opted for three on this one. If you don’t have the foil paper, you could eliminate this accent, and shift everything else off to the left. The card would still work at that point.
The trees have been coloured with Shaded Spruce and Early Espresso Stampin’ Write markers. I don’t think that we use these as much as we should, because our colouring minds move towards the Stampin’ Blends. However, for solid images and phrases, they are an excellent way to create colour variety on stamped images.
Looking at the above photo, you can see the edge of the Copper Trim. The bow sits at the bottom of the copper embossed vellum cardstock. It’s fun to play with because you can stretch it apart for a completely different look. It’s got a bit of a mesh look to it when stretched. You can see below how thick it is when it has been unrolled from the spool. It’s significantly thinner when stretched, but it becomes a completely different element.
