The June Paper Pumpkin kit was really cute, with great stamps for the summer. The stamp set had a watermelon rind, and two different stamps for the watermelon flesh. Normally the kits sit on the stamp table for a couple of weeks before we sit down to put them together. This month though, Michelle hijacked the box and created the projects while it thunderstormed outside. She did an amazing job, without any help from me.
Since she was creating the projects, I decided to create thank you cards for all of my new Paper Pumpkin clients, using the watermelon stamps, and giving them an alternate project idea for their stamp set.
Emerald Envy and Melon Mambo are a great combination for creating watermelons. I added some Daffodil Delight card stock to help bring out the green, and some retired Melon Mambo Baker’s Twine. I have been hoarding the twine for my flamingo cards, but it just finished the cards nicely. The sentiment can be found in the Thankful Thoughts stamp set. There are sentiments for both card fronts and inside panels, so I added the coordinating sentiment inside as well.
Don’t you love the embossing on the main card base? I ran them through the Big Shot with the Oh My Stars embossing folder, and I really, really like the result. It’s a great design, and the images aren’t too close together. The Melon Mambo was adhered directly to the embossed piece, but I think I needed more adhesive because it’s easy for these panels to pop off! Stampin’ Dimensionals hold the rest together nicely, providing lots of “pop” on the card.
Are you a Paper Pumpkin subscriber? No? Why not try it out for a month? These kits are ideal for summer months because almost everything you need is in the kit – just add a stamping block and scissors. The block is included in your first kit, and you can use a Stampin’ Scrub to clean the stamps, non-alcohol baby wipes, or just soap and water. Take it with you to the cottage, or have your kids complete the projects.
Check out all of the Paper Pumpkin details on my Paper Pumpkin page, and sign-up before July 10th to receive next month’s kit. I’m sure it’s going to be fabulous!
Today’s the last day of exams for the high school flamingos. I’ll give them about a week to do what they want, and then they’re my painting slaves. Wish me luck…
Happy stamping!
