Happy Monday! I have some fun interactive cards to share all this week. They are ridiculously fun to make and give. Nothing’s Better Than a Give it a Whirl card! Normally today would be ‘Case the Catalogue Monday’, but there is only one example of these dies in the catalogue, and I don’t have the stamp set used in the photo. I have a bunch of photos of today’s cards though, so let’s get to it.
I have made 5 different Give it a Whirl cards so far, and this is the only one that has been CASE’d from Melissa Stout, another demonstrator. I did alter the design slightly, as you’ll see a bit further down. All stamps on these projects can be found in the Nothing’s Better Than stamp set. There are coordinating dies, however they are not used on this project.
Before the catalogue hit the shelves, I was trying to figure out how big the openings were in the die set, and what images would fit onto the wheel. To do this, I made a vellum ‘template’ based on my best guess, and held it over the images in the book. I was pleased to discover that these would fit, so the set was already on my ‘must try’ list before I saw Melissa’s card.
The colour combination on this card is one that is tried and true, because these colours work exceptionally well together. When stamping the images onto the wheel, I made sure that all three were there. Here’s today’s Colour Chip:
A piece of the Tidings of Christmas Designer Series Paper was added behind the embossed sentiment. It’s difficult to find this style of pattern and colour in the Designer Series Paper in the catalogue. There are very few reds – which is why you may want to add 6×6 packs of DSP in the colour families to your collection.
I mentioned above that I made a second card, changing it up slightly. Instead of stamping the images, used one of the other dies to create the opening, and added the words instead. The sentiment below perfectly fits the card. Photos that give you a bit of a side look are below as well.
Stampin’ Extravaganza was held on Saturday, and my live demonstration was the card with the images on it. I will show you in this week’s Facebook Live presentation how easy it is to use these Give it a Whirl dies to create your projects.
The die set looks complicated, because there are so many in there, but the sheet below shows you what they all look like when they’re cut. The Daffodil Delight strip shows you the 4 ‘windows’ that you can add to your card. The large Real Red piece is your card front, and the Mint Macaron scalloped circle is your wheel. You don’t use them all at once. Join me on Facebook on Thursday at 7:30pm EDT to see them all in action.
