Today’s Nine Lives Valentine card doesn’t feature a cat, but it does use the adorable hearts that can be found in the stamp set.
Stampin’ Up! is focusing on cards that are easy to make for stampers of all skill levels with the hashtag #simplestamping. The January challenge is to create a Valentine card using only stamps, paper and ink. We are allowed to add a punched item if we would like to the card.
I actually created this card before I knew what the challenge was, so I’m pleased that it qualifies. The only colours on the card are Whisper White and Real Red, and I didn’t add a punched element because I like the flat look of the card.
The lines on the card were marked out lightly with pencil before the hearts were stamped. The dimensions are easy to remember because the lines start/end 3/4″ away from the top and side edges of the cardstock (5″ x 3-3/4″). Each square is 3/4″. Once they were marked, I went back over them with a Real Red Stampin’ Write marker.
Sentiment-wise, this one came from Another Wonderful Year. The font suits the heart images perfectly. I also added a few hearts to the inside, but didn’t stamp a phrase inside. I’ll give this one to my husband for Valentine’s Day, and would prefer to write something specifically for him.
Now, most people wouldn’t reach for Nine Lives to make a Valentine card. This idea just jumped out at me once I saw the tiny hearts. They’re just too cute. Here’s what the rest of the stamp set looks like:
