Good afternoon stampers! Today’s card was created with the Pick a Pennant stamp set, new to the 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue. I was fortunate to bring this set home from OnStage in April, but didn’t open it up until a couple of weeks ago. When I was searching for card samples online, I came across a cute one from Ange Mackay that I had to CASE.
The colour combination caught my eye, because it so bright and cheerful – perfect for a birthday card! It’s incredibly easy to stamp as well because the banner is one full stamp, inked three times and stamped across the card in three colours. The star comes with the set, so you can stamp to your heart’s content.
Pick a Pennant has a full alphabet as part of the set, and all letters fit perfectly on the banner. There are even duplicates so that you can line up the entire banner and sentiment on your Stamparatus and stamp multiple cards without moving the stamps!
One item that was beside me while I was stamping is the new Simply Shammy (pg 206 of the catalogue). It’s a stamp cleaning mat that works really well when cleaning your photopolymer stamps. It’s thicker than most shammies on the market, and you can really clean the grooves in your stamps. Just wet it, squeeze out the excess water, and you’re good to go. It will become stained with ink, but this doesn’t affect the performance at all.
I started stamping stars using one colour, moved to a second and then the third. Going back to add additional stars was effortless because I just tapped the stamp on the Shammy to clean the ink, and then added more. Much faster than using a Stampin’ Scrub, with no baby-wipe lint left behind! Store your Simply Shammy in a stamp case, but make sure that you let it dry between uses. If you stow a wet shammy in a stamp case, don’t be surprised if you end up with a super-smelly (and possibly moldy!) shammy.
