Making Christmas Bright with Strings of Bulbs

Good afternoon stampers!  Are you one of those stampers that likes to give casual Christmas cards for friends and family?  If so, the Making Christmas Bright stamp set could fit your needs and wants.  Today’s card has strings of Christmas bulbs on them – all you need is the glow of the real lights!

Making Christmas Bright with Strings of Bulbs

Making Christmas Bright has two types of images in the set – bulbs and stars.  I love Christmas lights, but don’t always love the stamp sets that feature the bulbs.  I am however, a sucker for stars on cards and scrapbook pages.  When I have time to scrapbook, which is generally only between Christmas and New Year’s, stars always show up on a page or two.  I love the strands of hanging stars in this set – great for borders!Wendy's Little Inklings: Making Christmas Bright

Looking at today’s card, the only stars that you’ll find are on the Crushed Curry circles surrounding the sentiment.  I chose to stamp the bulbs in lines across the card, moving the strands slightly so that they looked random on the card.  They were coloured using Stampin’ Write markers in the following colours:  Crushed Curry, Poppy Parade and Garden Green.  I chose not to colour them all, because I didn’t want the background to overwhelm the sentiment.

One thing that I appreciate about this set is that Stampin’ Up! decided to make the “Bright” a separate stamp.  It allows you to easily change colours, or to use it with a different set altogether.

The colour scheme for this card was pulled from the Santa’s Workshop Specialty Designer Series Paper.  After the Christmas bulbs were coloured, I added two 1″ strips to the card.  Each were punched with the Banner Triple Punch, so I didn’t have to guess where the cuts should be to make a decent notch.  It drives me crazy when I don’t line up my cuts, and my banners get progressively shorter when I try to “fix” my notch!

Did you notice the fuzz on the horizontal stripes?  Some of the paper sheets in the Santa’s Workshop DSP has white flocking on them.  They look great on a project, and you can’t help but run your fingers over the fuzz.
