It’s been a bit crazy over the past couple of days, as stampers look through the retiring lists to see what’s leaving the catalogues. At the same time, by process of elimination, they can see what’s staying. I’m so pleased that the Happy Birthday Thinlits are carrying over into the next Annual Catalogue. This big bold image is perfect as a focal point on a birthday card, and today’s card is a perfect example.
The funky background behind the sentiment was created with Brusho Crystal Colour. I just took the Gamboge colour, sprinkled it onto the watercolour paper, spritzed lightly with water, and immediately took the Heat Tool to it. Stopping the water blooms with heat allows you to keep some of the crystal effect of the colour in the card. As much as I like the effect when you wet the cardstock, sprinkle the Brusho and let it dry naturally, you do lose the sharper texture. This truly looks like a splatter of ink. Love it!
One last note about this bright birthday card – I have added some Wink of Stella to the die cut, because glitter on a birthday card is ALWAYS appropriate.
Have you looked through the Retirement Lists as of yet? If not, click on the link below for full details. Embellishments and paper should be ordered ASAP, as these are only available while supplies last. The same goes for any items that are not stamps, ink pads or ink refills. You have a *bit* of time for the ink, and more than a month until the stamps are no longer guaranteed to be in the catalogue. But… why wait and run the risk?
