I’m positive that I don’t have to remind of you of this, but it’s the day that North America has been waiting for because it’s been a long time since the bulk of the continent has seen a total solar eclipse. We will see a partial eclipse here, with around 70% of the sun covered, but it will still be a fascinating thing to see. As exciting as this is, we need to circle April 8, 2024 because the path of the eclipse will be just south of Toronto, and will encompass a section of land close to Lake Erie, along with Niagara Falls.
So, in honour of today’s astronomical event, I am posting a card that has some shading in it. It doesn’t have a cookie shape on it (which is what we’ll see today – a cookie with a big bite out of it), but I love the shading on it – and the Happy Birthday Thinlits! Such a versatile Big Shot die, and one that makes card making so easy.
Glossy card stock was used for the background, and it is extremely easy to create the speckled look of the ink. Simply sponge the ink on the card stock, with a heavier touch at one end, and then spritz with a bottle filled with water. As the water dries, you will see the speckles appear. The size and number will depend on how much water was spritzed onto the paper.
While the spritzed Gloss card stock was drying, I die cut the sentiment from Shimmery White Card Stock using the Happy Birthday Thinlits. Three Glitter Enamel Dots were added to finish off the front panel. I did add a sentiment on the inside from the Better Together stamp set, just to tie it all together. It’s a pretty basic card, but it does have a fun finish, and it’s really easy to create.
