Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set and the Stamparatus

Good afternoon stampers!  In one of last month’s classes, we created a pretty card using the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set and the Stamparatus.  Using this fabulous tool, and a simple template, made the stamping SO much easier.

Templates are really easy to create using Framelits and the Big Shot.  There are many online examples of these templates, and they make stamping certain types of images much easier.  Before stamping today’s card, I created a template using the largest of the squares from my Layering Squares Framelits.

To make this template:

  • Die cut one square close to centre of a piece of cardstock (I used Very Vanilla but you can use any cardstock that’s handy)
  • Turn the square 45 degrees, and cut it again – I just eyeballed it, but you can take your ruler out to get it perfect

Tada!  You have a template.  Now, here’s the part where I regret not taking a bunch of photographs.  To stamp the image:

  • Die cut a piece of cardstock using the largest square from the Layering Squares Framelits
  • Place the stamps on top of the cardstock, where you want them to stamp each time you rotate the cardstock.  Press the plate from the Stamparatus down onto the stamps to stick them to the plate
  • Ink the stamps, and stamp!
  • Turn the piece of cardstock 90 degrees, ink and stamp again.  Repeat until you have stamped four the image four times.
  • Change colours by turning the cardstock 45 degrees (so that the corners are facing north/south/east/west) and then repeat the process.
  • Once the flowers have been stamped, repeat the above process for your leaf, stamping them 8 times (rotate the cardstock 45 degrees each time)

Clear as mud?  Probably not.  I’m trying to get into the habit of taking photos as I go, so that I can give you a photo tutorial at the very least.  You’d think that I would have a better grip on this because I have actually studied adult education!  That’s okay – it’s all part of trying to improve how I demonstrate projects and provide instruction.  I’ll get there 🙂

I would love to claim this as my original card, but it was CASE’d from one created by Dawn Olchefske.  The stamps on the card are from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set.  It is quite versatile, and the balloons in the set coordinate with the Balloon Bouquet punch.
