Floral Friend Card & Last Week of Sale-a-bration

Happy Tuesday! Today’s card is a floral card for a friend, coloured with Soft Pastels. There’s only a week left in Sale-a-bration, and I still have 4 finished projects to share, so I need to make sure that you see them! My brain calendar is scrambled at the moment because of yesterday’s holiday, so my apologies in posting this a day late. Let’s have a look at today’s project, created with the Friendly Hello stamp set.

I enjoy cards that are relatively clean and simple. I don’t teach fussy cardmaking, even though you can certainly use the elements on those projects that do well with tons of different elements on them. The card base is Basic Black cardstock, with pieces of Basic White on the inside and on the card front. Before gluing it down, leaves were stamped with Granny Apple Green Soft Pastel gently rubbed over top.

The outline of the flowers was embossed with Gorgeous Grape Classic ink. What? I embossed with Gorgeous Grape ink? Yes! If you ink the stamp with Versamark, and then with your colour, you can emboss the image with clear embossing powder. I did a quick Facebook Live on January 20th (I looked it up!) to explain the technique and show you how to make these flowers.

Once embossed, the floral image was coloured with some shaved Gorgeous Grape Soft Pastel, and a Q-Tip. Colouring down the creases of the flowers gives you a bit of sparkle, as well as turning the lines a bit darker. A great effect to add a bit of definition.

Finally, the word ‘friend’ was embossed with white on black cardstock. Dimensionals were added after the word was fussy cut, and three of the Elegant Faceted Gems finish off the card nicely.
