Flamingo Fridays: A darker version of Pop of Paradise

*originally published on 8/19/16*

This colour blended tag reminded me a bit of twilight, on this nights where there is a lot of pink in the sky.  After starting at it for a bit, I decided to add an embossed flamingo to it.  But not just any Pop of Paradise flamingo, one that was very dark, because in the twilight, you wouldn’t see the full hue of the birds, but rather just a dark shadow.

The original colour combination didn’t include any black, but after embossing the bird, I decided to add a fifth colour to the design – that and it’s always good to have an odd number of elements on a piece.  Had I just gone with the four purples, it would have looked slightly ‘off’.  So, Basic Black was added to Wisteria Wonder, Perfect Plum, Elegant Eggplant and Sweet Sugarplum.
A wee tip for you, and one that I’m going to share in an upcoming Technique post, you can emboss using Versamark, and any of your regular Stampin’ Pads.  Simply ink the stamp up with Versamark, and then ink up the stamp using the colour of your choosing.  When you stamp, you can add clear embossing powder, and heat emboss the image.   Now you know!
The less intense version of this colour combination will post next Wednesday.  It features butterflies, and there is a tad less going on in the card.  Happy stamping!
