February Paper Pumpkin Cards + Alternative Layouts

The February Paper Pumpkin Card kit had supplies to create 9 different cards that can be used as sympathy cards. They may also be appropriate for those that are struggling and need a something uplifting. Let’s have a look at the designs from this month’s kit.

The cards above were created with the instructions in the kit. I opted to mix things up a bit for the others, because this one of the benefits of a Paper Pumpkin kit. You can take what has been given to you, and move things around, or add a couple of additional elements based on what you have on hand.

I really like the green background that forms the base for 3 of the cards. I changed the orientation for one of them, doubling up the Stampin’ Dimensionals on the sentiment so that it’s higher than the already popped up flowers.

The second card is different because I chopped up the card base and layered the elements on a piece of white cardstock that I had embossed with the Subtle 3D embossing folder.

The gold leaves on the vellum is quite eye-catching because it’s shiny. I simply layered the die cuts on top, in a different way. The card on the left does have an extra Mossy Meadow matte on it because the white shape is too small to add to the centre of the card on its own.

When making the alternative versions, I was determined to use all of the pieces. These Merry Merlot cards were difficult. I like the floral background, but the large gold doily is not my cup of tea – I’m a silver kind of person! I chopped one in half to place behind the Stitched Rectangle, and left the second one as it is. A stitched oval was added behind the sentiment to ground it. It’s very similar to the original card, but I like it a bit better.

The key is that you are NOT restricted to what’s in your Paper Pumpkin kit. You can change it up in whatever fashion you like. Just mix and match the pieces, or add extra elements from your stash and you’re good to go.

The March Paper Pumpkin Kit includes a free stencil set and sponge, so that you can create pretty backgrounds on your card projects. I love the look of the projects above! I don’t know whether this is a sneak peek of what you can create, or whether they are teasing us with the general feel of the project, but no specifics.
