This week has been momentous, because our oldest son is now finished high school. Monday saw the last of his exams, and last night was his prom. You would think that his commencement ceremony would be this week but… it’s not until the end of October. Seriously. I don’t find this odd, because I graduated from the same school *cough* 30 years ago, and that ceremony was also in the fall. However, I do have a card ready for the dude now, because he’s done… now. So, Congratulations to my Graduate!
Truthfully, I didn’t make this specifically for Brendan. I was messing around with Itty Bitty Greetings and the Stamparatus before my Open House, and came up with this card. The spacing on the greetings isn’t quite right, but it’s close enough. Had I thought about using the grid on the plates (don’t even say it…), they would be better. Next time!
I chose one of the sheets of Tranquil Textures DSP for the small side strip. This also gave me the colour scheme for the card – Night of Navy and Mint Macaron. Very masculine, for a masculine kind of kid. (The mint also matches the shirt that he wore last night.) The dividing line between the Whisper White cardstock and DSP is three lengths of Baker’s Twine – two in Navy, and one in Mint. I tend to add ribbon elements like this repeatedly in my scrapbooks, because I like the transition from one element to the next.
Sunshine Wishes provides the perfectly sized greeting inside the circle. A great focal point for a card that can’t have glitter, ribbon, or anything glittery/shiny. Punched with circle punches, it was fast and easy to put together. The full supply list can be found below, but in the meantime, here’s a photo of the dude.
It’s June 27, which means that it’s not July yet, but I’ll be away on July 1st. (Woo!)
