Over the years I have become better at combining and experimenting with colour. It all comes with practice, and sometimes you win. Other times you toss whatever you have been working on into the recycling bin. It’s easy to wreck a lot of cardstock. This week I have been colouring the Fabulous Flamingo with Stampin’ Blends. Of the two samples I made, one is very bright and one is very muted. Today’s Flamingo Friday card has a very colourful Bird on it, and I quite like how it turned out.
This guy was stamped using the Fabulous Flamingo stamp set, and has been coloured using the light and dark Cameo Coral Stampin’ Blends. As you may remember, this is a three-step- stamp set. The large flamingo stamp is meant to be stamped in a darker colour than the main body, to add the shading to the bird. When colouring, I used that stamp as a guide, because I’m not great with shade/light when colouring.
Did you notice that he has grey legs? Not all flamingos have pink legs, so I decided to switch it up a bit for fun, and coloured his legs with the light Smoky Slate Blend. It gives a bit of contrast to this one-layer card.
