Well, it snowed this morning. I may live in Canada, but October 18th is just a wee bit too early for the fluffy stuff to fall from the sky. I still have tomatoes growing outside!!! Or, at least I did. In honour of the season’s first snow, today’s card is a Cambridge Carols Card, watercoloured with our Watercolour Pencils. But first… this is my backyard at 7:30am this morning.
Yuck! I actually don’t mind snow at all, but seriously. We’re not even a month into Fall. Apparently Mother Nature is trying to get us mentally ready for the dumping of snow that we’re predicted to receive this winter.
If you enjoy watercolouring, this is a pretty easy card to make. The images and sentiment were stamped with Black Staz-On ink. I coloured and then blended all of the elements on the card – except for the tree. It would be difficult to colour the tree with a pencil and blend, so I opted to pull the colour directly from the pencil and then add it to the paper.
The technique is easy enough for beginners to do. Simply hold the pencil in one hand, and then touch the end of your Aqua Painter to the tip to pick up some colour.
*Tip* Before you do this, make sure that your Aqua Painter isn’t too saturated with water, because you won’t be able to control the colour as well on the paper. Better to go light and add a bit, than to add too much and have a colourful mess on your paper.
Both stamps on this card are from the Cambridge Carols stamp set. The set lends itself extremely well to watercolouring. I did colour the main image with my Stampin’ Blends, and found that they are a bit overwhelming. Watercolouring gives you a more delicate result, better with a delicate stamp.
