Beautiful Blizzard bundle, watercolour paper, and reinkers!

Good morning happy stampers!  It’s supposed to snow tonight here in Ontario, which seems a tad early considering that winter doesn’t start until December 21st.  However, it’s a good day to post another snowflake card!  Today’s card was created with the Beautiful Blizzard bundle, watercolour paper, and reinkers.

This card was inspired by a card created by Jennifer Michael, but I can’t say that it was CASE’d because it is different.  The layout is the same, but the top layer of paper was created on a Sunday night when I was messing around with a bunch of watercolour paper and reinkers.

I started with Balmy Blue and Blueberry Bushel ink.  This colour combo is my favourite this holiday season.  I works so well on these snowy cards.

The 6×6 paper was taped down with painter’s tape to scrap grid paper.  I did try and take off a bit of stickiness first by attaching it to, and ripping it from my yoga pants.  There was probably some golden retriever fur in there when it was stuck to the paper.  I then added a whole bunch of water with an aqua painter.  Starting with the Blueberry Bushel ink, I dropped it onto the wet paper with the Aqua Painter.  You ended up with some decent sized blobs.  I then dropped some Balmy Blue ink into the open spaces.  (Ignore the other colours!!!)

The water on the paper helps the ink to move around the paper.  I did help by using the Aqua Painter to drag the colour around so that it didn’t stay in giant blobs.  It’s also necessary to soak up a bit of the water at the edges so that you don’t have a watery mess.  Once this was done, here’s what the watercolour paper looked like.

You can see that it is still wet, and all four of the sheets in the above photos were left to dry overnight.  You can speed up the process by using a heat tool, which also move the colour a bit.  Once dry, the paper had a different look to it yet again.  I do use a larger sheet than necessary for a card front, because I want to be able to chop off the edges that I don’t like.  As an aside, the purple piece beside it is on another card that will be posted soon!

Finally, here’s a close up of the finished card once the watercolour paper has been cut down, and the sheet run through the Big Shot with the Blizzard Thinlits die.  You can see rhinestones in the snowflake centres, and I have added Silver Baker’s Twine behind the Blueberry Bushel sentiment.  The entire panel was popped up from the Thick Whisper White cardstock.  I really, really like this card and am going to have a hard time giving it away.
